Whether a client is contemplating purchase of a property, or already owns a site with environmental challenges, understanding the nature of the environmental impact and the potential risks associated with the intended or current use is paramount in today's evolving business climate. CEG provides commercial/industrial clients with expert consulting services in the area of identification, evaluation, quantification and assessment of environmental impact. Often, these services are necessary for clients that are obligated to undergo this process due to mismanagement of hazardous materials that occurred long ago, prior to the regulatory requirements present today.
The site characterization process generally follows conduct of a
Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) or similar review of a sites history. If that review indicates potential for environmental impact, a
Phase II ESA Subsurface Investigation is often recommended to determine if impact exists. If the results of a Phase II ESA Subsurface Investigation indicates that contaminants are present in soil and/or groundwater, further investigation is often justified to determine extent, severity, and potential environmental receptors. Once the problem is completely understood, the risk assessment is conducted to evaluate risk in terms of exposure to the chemicals as well as potential business liability.
These comprehensive studies result in practical, cost effective solutions necessary to maintain compliance with current laws and regulations and allow for safe use or re-use of affected properties. CEG follows industry standard protocol during evaluation of environmental issues while bringing our significant experience, creativity and business sense into the standard model. Our staff includes geologists, hydrogeologists, and certified asbestos inspectors that are all trained in Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response procedures.
