ISO 14001 - Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has spent many years constructing guidance for commercial/industrial facilities that wish, or are sometimes required, to prepare and implement a system that assists them in operating in an environmentally sustainable manner.  The general term Environmental Management System (EMS) refers to a written program that a facility may use to identify and reduce various waste streams and energy costs associated with its processes or activities.  Completion of an effective ISO 14001 EMS system for a company or facility can verify compliance with various levels of legislation, make insurance coverage more accessible, or even reduce insurance costs.  Additionally, your company can use the implementation of an ISO 14001 EMS as a marketing strategy to its existing and potential customers.

Typical activities/tasks conducted during ISO projects include:
  • Gap Analysis to identify the existing level of conformance (if any) with ISO 14000 standards
  • Evaluation of current waste handling procedures to identify practices/activities to be improved on in order to minimize
waste streams and reduce expenditures related to waste disposal, recycling or other recovery activities
  • Preparation of an EMS for the facility which conforms to all specific elements of the ISO 14000 standard

CEG can design, prepare, and implement an ISO 14001 EMS program for your company that can significantly reduce industrial/manufacturing wastes, resulting in significant cost savings for the facility, as well as enhanced protection of the environment.
