Asbestos Services
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines asbestos as the name given to a number of naturally occurring, fibrous silicate minerals mined for their useful properties such as thermal insulation, chemical and thermal stability, and high tensile strength.  Asbestos is commonly used as an acoustic insulator, and in thermal insulation, fire proofing and other building materials.  Many products in use today contain asbestos.

Asbestos is made up of microscopic bundles of fibers that may become airborne when asbestos- containing materials are damaged or disturbed.  When these fibers get into the air they may be inhaled into the lungs, where they can cause significant health problems.

CEG employs Asbestos Inspectors, licensed through the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth (MDLEG), that can effectively manage your asbestos containing materials (ACM).  CEG can assist you with determining if your facility contains ACMs, quantify those ACMs, determine the risk from potential exposure, and develop management or abatement plans as necessary to meet health and safety standards and/or demolition requirements.  Among our ACM services are:

  • Full Building and School Inspections for Management, Abatement, and/or Demolition Purposes
  • Sampling and Analysis of all Potential ACM
  • Quantification of all Potential ACM
  • Cost Analysis for ACM Management, Abatement, and/or Demolition Purposes
  • Conductance of ACM Abatement Activities
  • Assistance with Building Demolition Permits

All CEG's ACM activities are conducted in accordance with Title II of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), 15 USC, Sections 2641 through 2654 and in compliance with 40 CFR, Part 763. CEG only works with National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) accredited laboratories to ensure the most precise and accurate analysis possible for our clients.
